Re: SteelSeries Siberia v2 Headset Audacity
Oddly, this isn't an Audacity problem. If the headset driver software makes the microphone and headphone available to Windows, then Audacity will be able to select them and use them for recording and playback. Probably alone. I'm guessing you can't do that and use it for a game or anything else at t...

Re: Help with Windows 8, Roland TD-10
Also, I can see this on the horizon. Audacity doesn't save sound files. You have to Export to get a real sound file. Audacity does save Projects. The AUP file is a Project Manager. It tells Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the _DATA folder which is where the show actually is. You can send ...

Re: Help with Windows 8, Roland TD-10
Totally. I use a Behringer UCA-202 between my stereo sound mixer and my machine. I own two. Both work very well. In my particular case, I have my keyboard headphone output jacked into my sound system. The keyboard has no formal line-out. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650....

Re: MP3 file sounds normal, Audacity file v distorted! Why?
It's a little more magic than that, although that would be magic enough. MP3 works by figuring out, magically, which sounds you need for your show and which it can throw away. As the MP3 quality settings get lower, it throws more and more away. You would think that the show would get quieter and qui...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
Go for it. Our problem seems to be Jan's machine insists on "managing" the file instead of just downloading it.
It's like "Stop helping me! Just give me the stoopid file."

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
I made a zip package out of the file (attached). I'm guessing Windows will volunteer to unzip it and present you with the contents which will turn out to be acx-check.ny. Windows may not show you the .ny.

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
Regarding the WCAG 'test,' that's a result on the Analyze/Contrast screen, which collects sound data and then gives some numbers about background noise compared to foreground, so one might think it's a sound test. I think I got that one. That's using Analyze > Contrast in its purist form all the wa...

Re: Intermittent flutter on playback
am using my imac's internal microphone to record vocals - the quality was better than expected I have shot temporary theatrical tracks with my Mac built-in microphone and regularly use my Mac Stereo Line-In for paid gigs. Yes, they do work very well. However, Macs now have microphone processing and...

Behold, LZW compression. Lempel and Ziv were world-class Subject Matter Experts on data compression and information processing who weren't speaking to each other. Welch was the one that got both them into a room and said nobody was leaving until they produced a working, integrated product. And he ha...
