Re: Recording stops suddenly

Which Windows and which Audacity — all three numbers?

Do you have anything selected in the three timer entries at the bottom of the window?

Re: Evening sound levels for conversation

You tried to record a cellphone conversation with the Personal Recorder, right? That will only record your local voice and the echo cancellation error of the other side. Those are usually too far off to fix with the automatic tools like Compression and Limiter. The desperation method is to use the z...

Re: Suddenly no audio while playing an AUP/MP3 file

Yes, I am usually online with skype when working in audacity.
Skype is famous for monopolizing the computer's sound system while it's working. Nobody would be shocked if you were listening to the Skype echo and environment cancellation in your work.

The file is only 3500 K. The message says it will take up to 2 MB.
3500 K is 3.5MB.

Re: Equipment to record and podcast seminar presentation

Do you know how to drive a lavaier? and it's not intrusive Lavaliers are very intrusive. They're placed on the speaker's chest in the shadow zone under their chin, roughly a third down between the chin and navel. Frequently called a "tie tack" microphone, it works best when the subject is ...

Re: Equipment to record and podcast seminar presentation

If you don't want your H2 any more, I'll take it. I'll pay shipping. H2s are still going for new equipment prices on eBay. They are extraordinary performers in a small, modest cost package. Josh Turner did the whole beginning of his YouTube career on an H2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcVec_RPwu...

Re: Want to find tone frequency (Hz) for language project

If it works. The tuner is looking for a powerful fundamental tone and much weaker harmonics on an instrument, so it's easy to see it working. Voices aren't like that unless they're singing.
