Re: how to reconstruct audio recording with only .au files
I think Created is the original, legacy method of identifying files. I would have a hard time believing they would leave it out. We should remember that Windows likes hiding information. Do you have filename extensions revealed? Let's count the number of forum poster complaining that Audacity will n...

Re: how to reconstruct audio recording with only .au files
On Macs, it defaults to Modified, but I can force it to let me see Creation time and date with a view option.

Wow. A little victim blamy. Just sayin. The little voices won't let me say, "Well, everything 's perfect. Go for it." Omg that beach cottage looks amazing. Doesn't it? That's on the Tsunami Coast just west of Terremoto. If you're in Europe, you'll be shopping for a little something in Maj...

Audacity will open many different filetypes directly by installing the FFMpeg software. Scroll down. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ the guest on a Zoom call. And get Zoom to record it? What was the turn-around time from the end of the performance? Hours? I thought Zoom would automati...

Re: sound but no waveform after new microphone and interface
If the works pass, you could read a whole book, become insanely famous, and move to a nice cottage on the California coast. Keep all your fingers and toes crossed that nothing happens to the computer in the middle. Windows has a nasty habit of forcing updates and the last couple have killed several ...

Re: sound but no waveform after new microphone and interface
it transforms into a perfect waveform But does it pass? What are the numbers? You're using ACX Check, right? Do a screen capture of the ACX Check results panel. The three tools in Audiobook Mastering will make floor sweepings pass RMS (Loudness) and Peak. But you have to have led a good life to als...

Re: Cleaning a file to improve the warmth
Post some of it. If you have mono (one blue wave) you can post up to 20 seconds of WAV (Microsoft) format performance. Scroll down from a forum text window > Attachments > Add Files. If all your stuff is MP3, that's the first problem right there. MP3 files cause sound distortion. It's minimal at fir...

Re: ACX Check: RMS vs Peak
I ran RMS Normalize on it, and set it to -20. That's not what the instructions say. Did you have any trouble getting the Low Rolloff for Speech correction? Screen Shot 2020-11-14 at 09.35.03.png That's not a theatrical correction. Many home microphones and recording systems have sub-sonic rumble, e...
