Re: Live listen is fine but recorded playback is not
The Focusrite always knows exactly what it's doing. The problem comes when the sound goes into computer sound management. I have been known to set Audacity to Playthrough and listen to the computer headphone connection. That show has been through the whole pathway and come back out again. It's also ...

Re: Audio Dodo needs help please
OK. Here we go. I scrambled my tools and references and lost my continuity. I just hate it when that happens. Attached is a picture of the automated test and a copy of the v1.3 analysis tool acx-check.ny. It's a Nyquist type program. Copy that filter into the Audacity Plugins folder. Restart Audacit...

Re: Audio Dodo needs help please
One more. Audacity 2.1.0 is required for some of these tools to work. There were some recent improvements in the tools and filters and the older ones just don't work very well any more.

Re: Audio Dodo needs help please
I can recommend a correction suite of tools and settings, but I can only do that after you post the "clean" sample. That will also tell us what you sound like without all the corrections and distortions. Chapter 2.wav actually does pass the technical standards, but you did some messy thing...

Re: ACX check
I had my first stars on Audible.com today and the production quality got four. Not bad, considering I recorded it all in my bedroom! Can you post a screen grab or other indication of that Audible message? None of us are readers and the only way we have to know what the companies are thinking is whe...

missing something obvious Yes. Telling us what the soundcard is. Maker, model numbers. Also, Win7 had little sound meters in the Sound Control Panel and you could get a good idea of the health of your interface by looking at that. Does Win8 and do they work? Audacity works with whatever the compute...

Re: Audio Dodo needs help please
Please post which Audacity you have - all three numbers - which Windows, and can you post that 9-second segment again as raw microphone performance before you processed it? Don't help it at all, no effects, no filtering and no reduction. Don't do anything to "help us hear it." If you don't...

Re: Improving Piano Sound.
MIDI isn't sound. It's machine control. "Push this key hard and hold it for six seconds and then release." MIDI doesn't care whether the key makes sound or not. Just so long as the key goes down for six seconds, life is good. When you make a MIDI recording, you're actually recording the MI...

Re: Is this behaviour by design?
I've never been particularly happy with Audacity garden-hosing the sound standards across the program. Sample Rate, Bit Depth and Number of Channels are of primary importance to anybody recording sound, but I don't think the settings are available anywhere in one place.
