Re: Audio Lengthy Delay
Depending on your microphone, the game timebase and the microphone timebase may simply be that far off. There aren't liquid nitrogen cooled atomic clocks inside these things. I'd be surprised if they hit the nearest cycle at 44100 sample rate. And if they're both off in different directions... You c...

Re: Complete noob, looking to see if I'm close to ACX standa
The USB cord was long enough to keep my laptop PC outside the closet. Where you can't see it? You have to watch the Audacity recording meters while you read. The first time you get expressive and loud, you could overload the sound channel and that signals a do-over. Overloaded sound is one of the r...

Re: Audio Dodo needs help please
would suggest taking a careful listen to "Chalice chapter 8" to see if you can hear the high-pitch buzz they are referring to, and if so post a sample for us. And just because I haven't been depressing enough, can you hear the buzz ? We have one poster that just flat can't hear well enoug...

Quick note: It's usually beneficial to apply Steve's LF_rolloff equalization before any other processing. Suddenly you don't have to deal with frequencies much below 100Hz or so. Attached.

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
My application is straightforward. Noise Reduction gracefully removes hiss and background noise from vocal recordings and Noise Removal doesn't/didn't. If the user is careful about the Profile step, we can simulate a microphone with a lower noise floor than actually exists. My go-to tool is the Nois...

Re: Complete noob, looking to see if I'm close to ACX standa
Assuming your attached clip is raw and unprocessed, you are already reading at the recommended volume (occasional peaks into -6dB — the yellow zone), so the only way to improve it would be to dial back the vocal expression slightly. In real life, it's good to vary your expression and volume to impar...

Re: Complete noob, looking to see if I'm close to ACX standa
Acoustically it sounds good, no obvious echos or environmental problems. Exactly correct. You might pass on to us how you did that. Chances are good you're not recording in your kitchen or bathroom. That one step kills people trying to read for AudioBooks. a touch of compression to meet the ACX RMS...

QC also mentions pops during editing. I don't know that we got that far in evaluation. You can get that if you try to edit during a word or phrase, but you can also get that if you have a condition called DC offset. That can make a presentation almost impossible to edit. http://kozco.com/tech/audaci...

Re: Audio Dodo needs help please
We knew that ACX doesn't listen to the whole production because they said so. This confirms that they do spot check manually. A couple of seconds listening to a buzzy voice is enough. I'm going to go up and see the new video instructions. Andrew Grathwahl is "Andrew the Audio Scientist." H...
