Re: Can't make sound louder.
That's what compressors and limiters fix. The overly simplified description is to boost quiet sounds and not the loud ones. It does create distortion when you do that because after you "fix" the show, it's not the same as the original performance. There are many different ways of compressi...

Re: Blue Yeti Burning smell?
In short, redesign the microphone so it doesn't need the burned bits or put it on eBay as parts.small 8-pin package near by is a flash memory that probably contained custom firmware for the DSP built into the interface.

Re: Adding to the middle of audio
Would you expect to be able to play your video camera up to the point of the missing scene, then "record insert" the missing scene? That's how quadraplex videorecording was done for years. The recorder motors had to be in motion and stable before an edit was performed. A five second run-u...

Re: Complete noob, looking to see if I'm close to ACX standa
There is a down side to having the monitor right behind the microphone like that. Some microphones will have an effect called "slap" or proximity or comb filtering where tone will change depending on how far away the flat surface is. If the Yeti is set for Cardioid, the effect should be mi...

Re: Song vocal barely audible
Nothing leaps out at me. We need to fix this at the capture step. Not post production. Download this 39 second stereo test clip. http://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhase4.wav First, play it in Audacity and make sure it sounds perfect. The four segments announce themselves. Left, Right, Mono, and intent...

Re: Adding to the middle of audio
Then you can speak the new part on queue were it belong. That's why this may be more amusing than it seems. You can only start on cue if the original track were playing, which means you need to have the In Point before it's actually needed. You can only get into record by pressing the record button...

Re: Laptop purchasing and Audacity loopback?
Trying to record both sides of Skype on one computer is best done with Pamela or other specialized program. http://www.pamela.biz/en/products/ Regular Audacity will not be reliable no matter whose loopback program you use. Skype is vicious about resetting the computer's sound system to suit itself. ...

Re: Laptop purchasing and Audacity loopback?
Also, as above, newer Windows machines try to "help you" by adding sometimes unwanted sound processing and it can be very entertaining making sure you're dealing with a flat, ordinary computer when you make recordings. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html...
