Re: Remove or tune down TV vocals
That's one of the known ways to permanently damage your show. #4. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't record the show in your mum's kitchen.) -- 2. Overload and Clipping (Sound that's recorded too loud is perm...

Re: Is there a USB interface with DC coupled input?
Another solution would be a DMM with serial interface, but I have no idea how good/bad the frequency range is. Usually, it's something like 0-5 KHz, but YMMV. My DMM has a serial interface, but there was something about it that caused me to never use it. Even though the instrument has a high freque...

Re: Recording from Cassette tape
Audacity just stops recording, or it's recording and the signal goes flat? Audacity has a timer tool. Transport > Timer Record. Also make sure Snap To and the other values at the bottom of the screen aren't set. Audacity may also stop recording if there's no place to put the work. Are you running ou...

Re: How2 record from Pc, not its speakers, not input or anyt
Skype does not play well with others. It got its reputation for "always working" because it brutally takes over the computer sound services when it runs. That may seem to be evil behavior, but it lets Skype connect no matter how badly you messed up your sound. It also means no matter how c...

Re: C03U USB Microphone Problem
If your hands are going to be busy and you have to maintain multiple sightlines (the game and Audacity recording meters), you might want to think about hanging the microphone and not using a desk stand. That means you can park it slightly up-left or up-right out of the way while you perform and stil...

Re: Filtering Noise in Audio Signal
Audacity is not a forensics program. We can't start from a barely recognizable hash of garbage and pull a voice out of it, particularly if the trash is moving or changing over time. Two tools that may help are the telephone filter. Effect > Hi Pass Filter set to 300Hz and Effect > Low Pass Filter se...

Re: What does this limit in the blue waves mean? (clipping)
2. Clipping lines. Red clipping lines are good for a week long discussion, or more. Clipping like I said is when the system runs out of numbers and can't get any louder. So you can't ever know whether the music intended to get louder or not. All you can do is guess at it. The old clipping indicator...

Re: Can't save in any format at all
What's the exact filename you're trying to save? Does it work any better if you Save or Export to the desktop? Memory isn't the problem, I've got 50 GB free on my hard drive. That's not your memory. That's your hard drive. Apple (upper left) > About This Mac > Read Memory. And it just started happen...
