Re: Phantom Powered Mics dis-connecting me from internet

The problem was eventually fixed by having AT&T come out and replace the old U-verse box
But they didn't say what was wrong with it?

Re: Trim MP3 audio, export exact same quality?

Somebody always asks about exporting the work as WAV and then go for MP3. The trip through WAV doesn't clean up the sound damage. There are pieces of the MP3 show actually missing and you can't get software to put it back. WAV will prevent the show from getting any worse. My silly joke is the WAV up...

Re: Trim MP3 audio, export exact same quality?

Audacity converts incoming audio to its own high quality internal format in order to do effects, filters and production with no damage. That also means it has to make a new MP3 at the end which means it has to recompress and add to the original MP3 sound damage. No option. I'm sure you noticed that ...

Re: Crashing on Yosemite

I think Koz here uses Time Machine I do. Three places. I have a large, spinning-metal drive connected with FireWire. It does other things, but in general, I turn it on and do Time Machine backups once a week or sooner if there's something going on. All other times it stays off. So Time Machine has ...

Re: Asking questions

I'm entirely sure what the fuss is. I use Chrome at +150% magnification and the forum is perfectly readable. I suspect many people do a variation on this. The only shortcoming I ever found was posting a screen capture. Usually from outside of the forum, it always arrives the wrong forum size (much t...

Re: Samson G-Track Headphone output right ear quiet

While equipment failure generally follows some activity like "I used it last week and it stopped working," it doesn't have to be. Failures are not scheduled events. According to the Venn diagram, the microphone is working as a microphone (it is, right?) the headphones are working as headph...

Re: Samson G-Track Headphone output right ear quiet

Then given the Venn diagram so far, the microphone is broken.

You're sure it's plugged all the way in? You can get channel dropouts if the plug isn't firmly seated.

Re: Cleaning up Noisy / Loud Recording

We get posters who dance a vigorous jig to avoid telling us why they need to rescue a voice.... You get a Spidey Sense about those people. Too loud is one problem, but once you overload the sound channel, that's the end of the world. View > Show Clipping. The screen should not be solid red. This is ...

Re: Recording LP's no sound

Do you get blue waves and bouncing sound meters in Audacity and does the show play when it's in Windows Media?
