Re: ACX check
You can also get that from me. I'm a dot-com. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Documents/acx-check.ny.zip You should be able to click on the above link and it will start downloading. Doesn't it do that? If you're in Windows, Windows may hide the ".zip" extension and tell you what it is in th...

Re: At2020 & audiobox
Everybody has noise. The act of amplifying your microphone signal loud enough to be useful creates noise. That's usually the rain-in-the-trees, ffffffffffff. If you lead an impure life, you could have a USB microphone making computer noises also known as the "Yeti Curse." This is in additi...

Re: Need an audio format converter? Try Audacity!
What have you got against optional libraries? Audacity is not a million-dollar corporation with offices in each major world city. It's four guys and a cup of strong tea in Manchester and a boatload of volunteers. You could be one of those volunteers. How would you like to compile that list? You will...

When you exceed the capacity of a file system, you don't automatically get more or different rules. You get a damaged recording with ambiguous rules.shouldn't I be getting more than 31 minutes?

Re: Is this 1943 "home record" a lost cause?
Do you still have the record? There are published techniques to force a modern phonograph to play a 78 and then "convert" the result back to real time and pitch, but there's just nothing like playing a 78 at 78 with a 78 size needle which is much less likely to pick up clicks, pops and gro...

I thought Broadcast WAV retained the old file size limits for maximum compatibility. It just added all the tags and metadata header INFO missing from the original WAV standard.

I don't know that you can play them in Audacity, but you should be able to record them. It's a cousin to recording YouTube and other streaming services.

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?
So are we calling it a broken microphone? Preamplifier? Bad match between the microphone and the preamp? How do you tell across multiple time zones? If I had that happen, I would try the microphone in many different mixers and preamplifiers and note what happened. We can't do that here. there is no ...

Re: Turn a vowel into another
if you notice any mistake in my writing, I'm spanish. What are you if there are no mistakes? Audacity doesn't understand words, it just knows collections of sounds and waves and each word and letter inside the word is a complex collection of tones, overtones and harmonics. So each tone depends on t...
