Re: Clicking Noise in my audiobook recordings

I can't either. Does it still make noise if you play the clip on something other than your computer?

There's a test process, too. If you hear a click, does it happen in exactly the same place every time you play it?

Nice voice.

Re: Is a Warning equivalent to a Fail?

Remember, the ten second test has no processing at all. Read it, cut it to length, export WAV, and post it. It doesn't have to come out perfectly even on the word. We're not submitting for an Academy Award.

Re: Is a Warning equivalent to a Fail?

Noise Reduction (dB) at 30 That's very aggressive. We discourage noise reduction higher than 12. Many close readers make good use of noise reduction of the beast (6, 6, 6). Gently quiet down any background noises. High noise reduction can make you sound like a bad cellphone or talking into a milk j...

Re: Recording issue. Out of ideas.

This is a simple stereo test track. https://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhase4.mp3 Left, right, mono, and out of phase. Left and Right are exclusive. There is no Right sound in the Left test. The last test is intentionally damaged to simulate a badly wired sound cable or other oddball damage. On a ster...

Re: Recording issue. Out of ideas.

Yes, but it's probably not on the recording side. The posted blue waves seem to be perfect matches.

Re: Distortion on Mic recording

The Yeti has zero volume indicators. The light on the front changes when you have the microphone connected and muted. That's it. The instructions tell you to turn it down if it's too loud. That's not helpful if Windows or other software is messing with your work. As DVDdoug above, Audacity doesn't a...

Re: Audacity Freezing randomly during record but not the program

Thank you for the high quality post, but the log file is complaining that Audacity couldn't find the FFMpeg add-on program. FFMpeg is installed when you need Audacity to open and manage many more different types of sound files that it does normally. Some sound recorders save files in advanced sound ...

Re: Audacity Freezing randomly during record but not the program

Stopping in the middle of a musical note or a spoken word is many times the recording system failing, such as ratty USB cable or other digital delivery system that can't maintain constant connectivity. I have a client who is using Audacity a lot. What's a lot? If this is a general purpose laptop and...

Re: Best metadata settings/info for audiobooks?

ACX doesn't mention metadata in their instructions (that I saw). https://blog.acx.com/2015/11/18/file-management-with-alex-the-audio-scientist/ You're supposed to do everything with the filename management. Screen Shot 2020-11-17 at 2.31.34 AM.png We have posts from people who can't get metadata to ...

Re: How do I record internal and external audio at the same time?

It's actually not that hard to record you since your microphone is a service of your computer. But the far-side voice is a service of Zoom and they do not like to share. To get conferences to work they have to maintain a death grip on the sound channels and shoving Audacity into the middle muddies u...
