Re: Do I really need a mixer if...

Skype interviews are best done with purpose-built software such as Pamela. The upper two Pamela licenses, Business and Professional, will provide, at your option, split sound tracks with the two directions on different files suitable for post production filtering and adjustment. There are free ways ...

Re: ACX check

Last second notes. The master work and archives should all be in WAV (Microsoft). You make the MP3 deliverable from that. Never do production directly in MP3. Open and test the MP3 cold before you ship it. If peak on the MP3 repeatedly fails as too high, increase the Normalize 3.2 number and post ba...

Re: ACX check

The 192 Kbps is the quality of the MP3 that you make for submission. It's not something you fix. I believe the actual specification is at least 192. Higher is better unless you violate the file size requirement. All files smaller than 170MB and no longer than two hours . Have you made an MP3 yet? Au...

Re: ACX check

This is a lot more entertaining that I thought it was going to be.

Open Audacity 2.1.1 with acx-check.ny in the plugins folder.
Effect > Manage. Is acx-check disabled?
Enable it and see how that goes.

Re: Holophonic sounds in Audacity

You might be able to do that with phasing. This 40 second test has intentionally damaging phasing in the fourth segment.

Re: Adjusting sound level to equalize 2 parts? Mixer Board?

There is also a way to edit that doesn't involve cutting and pasting onto one timeline. You can use the Envelope and Time Shift Tools to cut up two tracks one above the other. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tools_toolbar.html When you want to hear track two, you mute track one or move it out o...

Re: Adjusting sound level to equalize 2 parts? Mixer Board?

Starting with the original two shows, set volume, equalization and range at each one individually before you edit into a composite show. Once mixed into a show, it's almost impossible to clean and do production on one voice without affecting the other, or without damaging the edit transitions. Pamel...

Re: ACX plug-in

Be very clear all it does is tell you the technical specifications of your sound file and whether they make ACX compliance or not. It doesn't fix anything. You can get one of them from me. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Documents/acx-check.ny.zip Unzip it and drag acx-check.ny to the Audacity Plugin...

Re: Zero Latency Monitoring Issue

I know that I can do latency correction But did you know there were two? The correction that Audacity has sets the relation between the new recording and the old ones or the new performance and the guide tracks. Full Stop. You're talking about Machine Latency. That's when your live voice comes out ...

Re: Potentially Corrupted File...

The AUP Project Manager and the _DATA folder with the show have to be in the same location or folder for the show to open. What happens if you just move everything back where it was?
