Thanks.
I would love to show you how to press a button and produce a clean, clear audiobook recording, but I haven't found a way to do that yet. We still have to pay attention to a bunch of rules.

Re: feedback in all inputs
What?Today, when I went to record something with Audacity
Self recording, like recording from a YouTube channel is not simple. It's not an officially supported process, so it's easy for another program to step on and break the path.
So what are you doing? Which Windows?

Re: Window's 10 Compatibility
Since everybody is struggling with current OS compatibility problems, I'd guess no.

Re: Adjusting sound level to equalize 2 parts? Mixer Board?
Also note that both Amplify and Normalize work on peaks not volume, and over the whole show . So if somewhere in the show there is one very loud sound (gunshot, snapping wood, vinyl record pop), neither tool will do anything. The show is already as loud as it can get.

Audacity doesn't have Paste-Import. You have to import the clip and then use the editing tools (cut, paste, copy) to push the two tracks together.
Also note that many tools stop working if you're in Pause instead of Stop.

Re: ACX check
So I guess I'm good to go regarding that and don't need the Lame software to make an MP3 file? Dueling posts. If you have an older Audacity with Lame in the system, sometimes Audacity will go out looking for it. Make sure it actually works—that it actually makes an MP3 file. 44100, 16-bit, Stereo i...

Re: ACX check
[rolling up sleeves] RMS stands for Root Mean Square. I just said that to scare you. It's also a handy, standard (in electronics) way to measure loudness. It's measured over the whole show , not any one place. So it's a good idea to keep the overall volume of your performance even and high enough fo...

Re: ACX check
One more. If the MP3 fails for some reason, go back to the WAV, fix it and make a new MP3. Editing or correcting an MP3 creates sound damage.

The machine on the left is playing music into the mixer and recording the mixer show in Audacity. The machine on the right is managing Skype. Some people have gotten the whole thing to run in one computer like Chase in his podcast. Reel Life Podcast http://reellife.podomatic.com/ But he got superson...
