Re: recording volume becomes progressively louder

Audacity doesn't do anything to the sound during recording. What arrives from Windows gets recorded.

Re: recording volume becomes progressively louder

The problem with Windows is the show has to go through Windows to get anywhere else. There's no shortage of Windows developers that think they know how to "help you" with your sound. Couple that with communications like Skype and Chat and it's a wonder anyone managed to get sound recorded ...

Re: ACX check

By my measurements, the background noise goes up 6dB when the fan kicks in. In English: the noise doubles. once it starts it pretty much keeps going. That's not what you said earlier. "Keeps Going" we can do. It's constant on and off that creates problems. Did you look at that software pac...

I swear I didn't pay anybody sub rosa or call in any favors. This is a clip from This American Life # 528, The Radio Drama Episode (attached).

Shooting fish in a barrel. It's a lot handier when the fish are all in one place like that. When you Normalize ahead of Compression, Compression doesn't have to go searching for the sound. Normalize forces the sound to a known, stable volume. When I do it that way, many of the Compression sliders an...

Re: Channel Volumes

The amp has a Phono-In, right? That says so. The needle is visably tweeked (slight bend). That would do it. The music in the groove is diagonal and it's different on each side of the groove. So if the needle doesn't hit the groove perfectly straight it could deliver more on one side than the other. ...

That's still world-class production editing. I sat for a live recording of a Very Well Known Singer and she needed, as the phrase goes, a lot of work. I wasn't there for the post production, but when they got done, she sounded very professional, smooth and musical. That's why these people get flown ...

I didn't think there was a 64 bit Audacity.

Re: ACX check

There is another poster who is having microphone troubles. The microphone (or environment) makes her voice sound overly crisp, bright and harsh. It does it in a way that's not easily repaired using the Audacity tools. So this one single problem is the only thing standing between her and a world-famo...
