Re: Adapting this mike

I think you're working too hard. Turn the microphone around so the portion that's recording just the room records just your voice. Make that one mono and kill the other channel.

What's the microphone? Model numbers?

Re: Sample rate unchanged after resampling from 192k to 96k

if I can record at 192, I figure why not. One problem people run into is the machine not being able to keep up. Those numbers produce a very serious data rate, and besides, where did you find an Analog to Digital converter which would do that with an RIAA preamplifier built-in? 44100, 16-bit, Stere...

Re: Sometimes the recording sounds like it is clipping

I applied a simple Normalize and your clip meets ACX AudioBook sound standards. I don't hear any distortion. I would try to listen to the works on another computer or with different headphones or speakers. One of the reasons we ask to post a good clear sound clip is so we can listen on a machine tha...

Re: Recording Vocals with Audacity (Kind of need help?)

It captures the vocals in the Audacity program very dry and natural. The best you can do is a raw voice recording with no "room" in it. No echoes, reverb or noises. Once you get that, you can go anywhere else. Dry is without effects, wet is with. Many software packages provide a slider so...

Re: Skype - Behringer Xenyx 802 Nightmare

There is one other teensy problem. Note that in the above post, I suggest that you have a script for your show. "Two minutes in we're going to do the remote interview followed by Q and A from the studio guest." Winging it is only going to take you just so far. Without some structure, a sho...

Re: Skype - Behringer Xenyx 802 Nightmare

I hope I didn't frighten you off. You have a good performance voice. You also happened to choose the most complex possible podcast. Host, Music, Multiple Studio Guests, Call-in. I know high-end broadcast radio shows that aren't that complicated. What's the content? I generally run out of steam about...

Re: Personal Recorder

I have a new Olympus recorder coming. It seems to be the happy mid point between bottom-feeding voice recorder and higher end music recorder. Is has WAV output and a low cut voice filter.

As we go.

Re: Unmodified file gets modified?

(it reduces harmonic distortion and extends the usable dynamic range).
It sounds better.

Re: What is causing this issue?

It's not unheard of to cure a lot of sound problems by not using a computer. It would seem that using an already available computer and an inexpensive microphone would be totally the way to go, but that also means computer and data connection problems get burned into the show, see: Curse of the Yeti...
