Re: Audio Sound Test
This is an NT1-A with a Solo? It has a very odd noise signature. Maybe it's because of your studio. This should sail right through ACX technical testing. Cut another sound test. This time forget the WAV file and Catskill cows. Read a story. Actual narration with people, plot, and settings. You can g...

Re: Is a Warning equivalent to a Fail?
So, it's too loud. Do I move further from the mic, or...? Don't post anything new until we resolve this. This is serious. Can you see Audacity from your announcing position? You can get a good idea what you're doing from that. Use my goal picture. There's tricks to this. I don't see anywhere that y...

Re: Is a Warning equivalent to a Fail?
This is the fuzzy goal. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityVoiceSampleScreen.jpg Blue wave tips at about 50% and/or the bouncing sound meter just starting to turn yellow from green. That's the happy medium between too loud with risking overload and permanent sound damage, and too quiet ...

Re: Is a Warning equivalent to a Fail?
The unprocessed clip is broken. It's too loud and it has several points of overload and clipping damage. Open in Audacity and set View > Show Clipping . The time line will reveal red bands at the points that the digital track failed to follow the performance. Screen Shot 2020-11-18 at 11.53.36 AM.pn...

This may have changed by now, but Desktop > Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Desktop and Screen Saver.
At one time I had to build the colour, but the last Mac had one close enough.

Re: Audacity on Big Sur
Fortunately, you're not stuck with the default desktop. This is my gray background. It is intended to be neutral 77 across the board. GrayDesktop.png Nothing like the desktop/background competing with colourmatching. The old laptop had a thunderstorm over the San Gabriel Valley, dramatic and desirab...

Re: How do I record internal and external audio at the same time?
I'm trying to keep everything at minimal and not use too much real tools such as an Audio recorder and whatnot, but I will definitely keep it in mind when nothing comes up. You want the one-button push. The separate recorder thing is how the broadcasters do it when someone is paying for the show an...

Re: How do I record internal and external audio at the same time?
Post back if you get it to work. Computers only have two natural pathways: Play and Record. On-line communications uses them up. Pay attention to whether the far side can hear you OK, and keep strict notes on the order you start the programs. Launching them out of order can give forum posts like: &q...

Re: Do you use Audacity? I would love to interview you
GMT+0 (London) I've never seen it written that way. I'm the far western branch of support in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, my internet connection is a salty, wet string to the telephone company Central Office and doesn't support live voice. Good luck on the interview. I have to go out shortly and spr...

Re: Clicking Noise in my audiobook recordings
Sorry about the wandering, but I don't think I've ever seen instructions that went into such amazing detail and didn't tell me basics. It's like they were written by the software developers and not the microphone designers. Anyway, see if that helps. Two of the forum elves missed the noises complete...
