Re: adding labels/chapters to audiobooks
How sure are you that the works aren't already broken up into chapters? ACX AudioBook has a file and length specification that seems to urge you to create audiobooks by the chapter. If you don't do it that way, as you're finding, there's no convenient way to put down and take up an AudioBook later. ...

Re: Audio 'chopped up' in post
I unplugged the USB device before saving the project as an Audacity file AAAAAAAAAAH! [crashing explosion sound] ... instantly save (in multiple formats) my recordings before doing ANYTHING else, correct? Just two. Export as perfect, uncompressed WAV (Microsoft). There are no options for this forma...

Re: Simple Noise Removal and Compress Dynamics Tutorial
I'm coming back to this thread, so I'm a little scattered. Can you post work with no corrections? Many times we can either suggest a correction process or tell you where you can put your microphone. I did post a recipe for posting a simple sound clip for analysis: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/...

Re: Simple Noise Removal and Compress Dynamics Tutorial
They'd like to sound better, but don't have any idea how. Get them to post. They do need to be using Audacity, but if they are, we do know how to shoot sound. Fair warning, most of the serious problems with live sound recording can't be cured in post production filtering and effects. One of the com...

Re: Error Opening Project - "couldn't find project folder"
Particularly since I believe it creates the AUP file last.created by Audacity without also creating the "Goosebuds8_data" folder.

Re: Can you record *and* edit files?
patience is the best advice after all. Which isn't what he said. He said record and edit on different machines. I know people who do pre-production on one machine while a recording is progressing somewhere else. Sometimes the crush of production timing dictates things like that. I can't do it, but ...

Re: Audio 'chopped up' in post
I think what you have now is a rehearsal. I know people are horrified at having to do over work, but this happens to the grownups, too. "There was a problem at the film processing lab and we need to shoot Scene 13 and 14 over again..." When I shoot an important show, I export a WAV and sav...

Re: Audio 'chopped up' in post
I unplugged my M-Audio USB interface
At that exact instant, the computer tried to emergency unmount the device and Audacity became unstable.
When did you save the project or export the sound file? You didn't say those words in your posting.

Oops. Sorry. I corrected the post and answered it in the same swoop. It's not broken. Chances are good you just didn't set up the computer right. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html Self Recording is not a natural act or a manufacturer's product....

Re: Error Opening Project - "couldn't find project folder"
The _DATA folder name is burned into the AUP file. You can open the AUP and read it. It's XML programming text . Control-Click > Open With > TextEdit. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg So no, you can't fake it out, at least not that way. The snippets in the _DATA folder are intentionally rando...
