Re: Newborn narrator
Dueling Posts. My personal bias is to not change anything once you get it working. I have horror tales of changing one minor, insignificant thing right before a live performance. There might be something we can do in Equalization to take a little of the boxiness out of the voice. In that case, you j...

Re: Newborn narrator
OK, here's a revised list to give you a little more breathing room for artistic expression and mistakes. You'll need to install the custom equalization plugin. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/Documents/LF_rolloff_for_speech.xml.zip Unzip that to LF_rolloff_for_speech.xml Adding Audacity Equalizat...

Whatever you do, as long as it doesn't get any worse, you're good to go. Most people would kill to be able to produce an ACX clip with no significant processing. You can do this testing yourself. You don't have to keep posting. Drag-Select 0.5 to 1.5. Analyze > ACX Check. Read Noise. Turn the air co...

Re: Newborn narrator
Do you have Compact Fluorescent Lamps in your studio? I have one that makes hummy buzzy noises. Undimmed standard tungsten bulbs and LED "bulbs" don't make noise. Candles don't, either. Be careful not to set the clothing on fire.

OK, back to earth. Do a similar test but bring the computer back inside and turn the fish tank back on. My vote is the air conditioning system. The tone is still there in this last clip, but it's just so low in volume the only way I know it's there is to go looking for it with engineering tools. It'...

Yeah, PJTest2.wav is without any processing. Most Cool. Take a breath. -- Select the whole clip or show by clicking just above MUTE. -- Effect > Normalize: [X]Remove DC, [X]Normalize to -3.2 > OK In English, I reduced the volume a little bit. That's the entire list of clip corrections. Attached. It...

Re: hiring.
Your message is public. If you don't get any replies, then nobody is interested. This doesn't usually go well. Most people post to get help and then we never see them again.
If you give a little more detail, we may be able to tell you how to do it.

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
I've been working in the marketing industry for a long time. Numbers is what I do. And when I see those numbers, I know something is wrong. I mean, "3 votes, 4 votes..." You may need to back up and get the 10,000 foot (3048M view). If you've been doing that for a while, you know that unde...

user on v2.11 Really 2.11? 2.11 is a bogus version. The real version is 2.1.1. http://audacityteam.org/download/ One way to capture on-line sound is record Stereo Mix which sends the sound out to the analog soundcard and then brings it back. So the sound goes through all the analog conversions and ...
