I didn't get the "Eureka" moment from you, so I made a short clip with 120Hz tone flashing on and off. Yours will be constant and lower volume. It's not easy to hear, but I have no trouble hearing it behind your voice in the clip.

I don't know that you can smash record into or over an existing track, but Audacity 2.1.0/2.1.1 will let you start recording a new track anywhere you wish.
