Re: Is there a "Repeat Last Command" shortcut?
That's only five versions out of date. Get Audacity 2.1.1. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Some of what you want is buried in 2.1.0 effects management. Because of the inability of Audacity to apply effects in real time, it is required that you repeat effects multiple times to get them right. One v...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?
I know it's attractive to design ever better software packages to solve problems like this, but just how did the microphone make these sounds? They're not just "bright." That affects everything—the rock band microphone presence hump— and usually responds to proper equalization. It's more s...

Re: appending wave forms
The blue waves are just the graphic representation of the MP3 sound. Audacity doesn't have Append-Import, so File > Import both of your songs and they will appear one above the other. Drag-select the bottom one and Copy > Paste it to the end of the top one. Use the MUTE and SOLO button to the left t...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
We should persuade the author to document and release them... Heavy on the document. I attach a sound test from a poster who got dangerously close to producing an AudioBook compliant sound clip with no corrections short of a minor volume change. However, there is a word "resist" at about ...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?
Part of the stumping nature of this is the absence of testing. Try this. Take a sheet of newspaper as close to "real" as you can get*. Start a recording of a broad, flat sheet and slowly crumple it up into a little ball in front of the microphone. Keep it under ten seconds. Make sure the s...

The 2.1.x series also has greatly improved audio processing tools.

Re: noise which i can't remove or reduce it.
Your microphone is pointed at you. The sensitive part of the microphone is also pointed at the wall behind you. If that's a bare wall, it could be reflecting the fan noises into the performance. Good quiet rooms are very difficult to make. Even harder when your computer is fighting you. I got a reas...

Re: audacity won't recognize USB device
Apple (Desktop upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. If your device isn't listed there, it doesn't exist as far as the Mac is concerned. Audacity gets sound devices from the Mac, so there's no such thing as fiddling with Audacity to work around this. If The Mac finds it, you may have to ...
