Re: Electrical noise on recording. C03U
Unstable problems like this are the most fun. Like I said earlier, there is an impressive list of fixes for this exact problem; none of them work reliably for everybody all the time. Most of the solutions partially work. You can change the problem but you can't ever make it go away without possibly ...

Re: Successive Recorded Tracks Coming out of Alignment
That's using the same words. What's the goal? What are you trying to do? If you want to create a seamless mix, you can use the Time Shift Tool to push selected segments sooner or later on the timeline. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tools_toolbar.html If you need overlap, then record on separa...

Re: What to do with non-talking track in interview?
I lost your thread because the title didn't follow the narration wander. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/Documents/LF_rolloff_for_speech.xml.zip That's Steve's rumble filter in zip form. Unzip it to LF_rolloff_for_speech.xml and install it in the equalizer tool. Adding Audacity Equalization Curve...

Re: Multi-Track Digital Recorder vice other solutions
There is one other much less obvious problem with doing the podcast entirely in post production. That's how This American Life used to do it. They would all collect their pieces and sit down with the editor and punch it all together into one show. It was terrible. Everybody micromanaged their segmen...

Re: Strange noises on telephone
Forgot to mention that the home phone is a land-line, but it's connected to our WiFi router. So it goes through the router. So it's not a POTS Land-Line telephone like the Public Switched Telephone System. It's a VOIP phone like Vonage. So once the call is established but not completed, the phone i...

I read that five times and I still can't figure out what's coming out of alignment with what. Try again. Use different words.

Re: getting quality mp3's
Note no matter what you do with the exported MP3, the quality is still going to go down. Even if you select 256 quality as export, the 128 quality isn't going to be 128. It will be some quality less, like 96. The final will be 128 quality if you export as WAV (Microsoft). Or it will be 128 if you st...

Re: Electrical noise on recording. C03U
get a replacement? Only if by "replacement" you mean an analog microphone and USB interface such as a Scarlett 2i2 or MBox unit recommended by ACX. Or the way I do it with analog microphone, analog sound mixer and Mac or Behringer USB interface. The problem is endemic to USB microphones t...

Re: Electrical noise on recording. C03U
The filter works by cutting tiny chunks out of the show. Make sure you still like the sound after you apply it, particularly if you are recording music. Any musical tones at 1000Hz, 2000Hz, 3000Hz etc up to 8000Hz may be affected.

Re: Newbie to Tascam DR-05 - Poor Quality Sound
The clue in your posting may have been the bubbly audio. That sounds like a noise or environment removal setting. They typically work for voices and hate music.
