Re: ACX Check not working

There were two different ACX Check programs. A system change a while ago messed the old one up and gave it a restricted testing range.

This is the current one.

Re: Recording an interview

We had a poster with difficulty on a phone interview, so they folded the interview into Zoom and did it that way.

If you do use the Zoom recorder technique, post back how it worked for you and how it went. Call recording techniques can change depending on your country.

Re: Audacity 2.4.2 Recording with me set-up....

Did you find it yet? I'm betting the 2i2 is fine, right? If you got it that far, we get to start ripping apart the Windows settings. That's just the most fun.

If you used any other cable than the three-pin XLR on both ends, that can cause immediately sound problems.

Re: Audacity 2.4.2 Recording with me set-up....

The Direct Monitor options are Mono (on the left) and Stereo. You would think you would want that Stereo at all times, but it's really awkward when you have a single source like a microphone and it only appears in one ear of your headphones. You can force that to work, but it's not fun. Mono mix dur...

What's in the show? You speaking? Full stop. Did you connect the shotgun to the 2i2 with one of these? https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/XLR-Cable-500.jpg Let's see...2i2. Turn off AIR. Turn off INST. Turn on 48v Turn down the microphone GAIN control you're not using. Turn up the two monitor k...

Re: Random crackling only through bluetooth headsets

Missed one. Does the recording input stay where you put it when you do connect the Bluetooth system? Like connect the two devices you mentioned and see what happens. You may need to restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan.

Re: Complete newbie here

plugged into my iMac desktop Step one it has to be old enough to have an actual stereo analog connection like this two arrows and circle. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg If you do, then it's a simple matter of setting Audacity to record from that connection. If you don't, ...

Re: Random crackling only through bluetooth headsets

What happens if you turn off the bluetooth in your phone? Any change?

What is the recording device in Audacity? What does the playback device say in the little window?

Re: Random crackling only through bluetooth headsets

I'm using 32 floating bit, 24,000.
Does it still do it if you use Stereo, 44100, 16-bit, CD quality?

Bluetooth is not open-ended. It's intended for personal casual listening, not studio audio production.

Re: Random crackling only through bluetooth headsets

So that doesn't seem to be an issue inherent to the bluetooth device. That one's slightly different. That's the same reason Audacity hates cloud drives. They seem to be a perfect connection, but they're not. They have connection errors, retries, redirections, and delays. That's not good news when A...
