Re: No Input
You can start with which computer and which operating system (pink band over this thread)? Which Audacity, all three numbers? Which microphone, model numbers, and what else beside the microphone failed?

Re: Muting the TV in the clip - Windows 10 - 2.1.1
how do I put this new sound file in the clip? Video clip? Export the work or prepare a WAV file of the work. Video works at 48000/16-bit/Stereo, not 44100/16-bit/Stereo, but most editing programs know how to deal with this. Open the show in your video editor program and import the new sound file. Koz

Re: Unable to open target file for saving
Audacity does that when you put certain punctuation marks in the filename. Dates are a problem. Today is 2015-09-05, not 9/5/15. Dashes and underscore are OK.

Every time you File > Import > Audio, you get a new sound track stacked below the last one (click the graphic).

Re: Measuring Sonar
You can tell if you were near a place using Sonar. Audacity doesn't do analysis in real time. So you can record the environment and then take it home and analyze it.I am near a place using sonar

Re: can't record from mini-disk onto computer
Found it. That white thing is the one you don't want. That's Mono, low level Mic-In and Stereo Headphone Out. I'm using it here to illustrate a connection to the microphone that lets me record phone calls. My Mac has no Mic-In.

Re: can't record from mini-disk onto computer
Right. New computers don't have Stereo Line-In. Mic-In or worse "Headphone" can sometimes be changed to Stereo In via configuration settings, but many times not. You are supposed to be using your computer to conference call your August financial reports into the Geneva home office, not mes...

While your cursor is in that band on the left, press one of the modification keys until it changes to [-]. On my machine, that's SHIFT.

Re: changing pitch of music
Import the music file into Audacity. Select the whole thing (if that's what you want) by clicking just above MUTE. Effect > Change Pitch.
