Re: Removing Noise

Oh. The Procaster is a dynamic (moving coil) microphone. That means it might be a little quieter than some amplified microphones, but nothing you can't handle with the mixer. It's an end-fire microphone. You talk into the end of it, not the side. It looks like other aside-fire microphones, but it's ...

Re: Removing Noise

I'm not a fan of the Griffin iMic. You are supposed to be able to switch it from microphone to line. Mine did both badly. It's in the garage. But that may not be the only problem. Forget the computer for a while. Can you make the mixer happy? Can you get the two zero green lights to come on above th...

Re: Is there a way to find all peaks over a set level [-3db]

Remember the original question? You could also Effect > Amplify the track by 3.2dB (allow clipping). If Show Clipping is turned on, all your 3.0dB points will turn red. When you're done managing the sound, Amplify by -3.2 to bring everything back down. Audacity works in an internal format that doesn...

Re: Bouncing audio files

Can't you also generate a silent track under the whole performance, cut off the end and export both? That's a lot easer than trying to surgically implant a silent track.

Make it way bigger than the performance, push the performance into position, cut off the end and Export.

Re: Sony Movie Studio

The next day I went to record something with Audacity What are you recording? Exactly. Model numbers, makers. If you're in Windows and reinstall Audacity 2.1.0 or 2.1.1, it will ask you for permission to reset all your settings and customizations. Say yes. If you don't, you may get exactly the same...

Re: Is there a way to find all peaks over a set level [-3db]

if I find that the track already meets ACX standard before compressing, should I just stop there? The AudioBook Goals are that your voice sound pleasant (and real), the volume be generally even chapter-to-chapter and you make the ACX Robot happy. Have you listened to the whole thing all the way thr...

Post some of the work before you do anything to it. Raw capture clip.

Use this as a general guide.

Re: Alternative to ACX?

Youtube: there's some terrible content on there.
I can't watch most training videos.

Re: Alternative to ACX?

Your comment about not remembering the name of another platform whereby an author posted their work resonated clearly, I assure you Probably more because I'm not a big audiobook listener and they don't need what I'm doing. So my interest is just above zero. you should make sure the tops of the blue...

Apparently, we stepped into a semi-known Yosemite bug.
