You can mark a position on the blue waves with labels.
You can press a hot key (yours may be different from mine) and a label forms at that exact spot.

Now that it's probably too late, I have a clothespin type microphone clip I like. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MY200?adpos=1o1&creative=54989489041&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CMLClKri9ccCFUuSfgod4ogJ8w That can be very handy if your microphone doesn't happen to...

Re: New mic, new to Audacity, not new to music.
A recent poster produced a song with him singing over a prepared track. He got remarkably close. It took me a second to figure out it wasn't a real studio performance. Then he made a couple of silly newbie mistakes and it all fell apart...but for a while there..... As I recall, all he did was compre...

I know meter watching is an acquired taste, but you should be watching the sound meters during recording. Audacity made that much easier to do in versions 2.1.0 and 2.1.1. The meters are very large with color changes (if you want them) during the recording process. Keep the meters in the yellow regi...

it seems that there's no real "recommended value" for stylus pressure I bet there's a recommended pressure for the cartridge. The stylus and shaft are only in the middle of their range at one pressure. Anywhere else they start snugging up against the tunnel where the sensing happens causi...

No. That's too much like the "Make Me Sound Like Somebody Else" request, with the added complexity of Language Translation, Vocal Removal, Vocal Isolation and multi-layer mixdown.
No. We can't do that. I'm betting really good editors can't do that.

That appears to be a perfectly lovely microphone, but it's analog. How did you digitize it? That's just curiosity. I'm at a loss about what I should do next concerning the vocal and acoustic guitar track, normalizing, editing, etc. So are we. If you ask us something specific like how to get rid of r...

Our IT department used to be able to give you the messages if you asked. Sometimes they're available as MP3s if you know where to look or have the authorization. You're not the first person to require phone messages for a business deal.

What's a good car to buy? I don't know that there is a good answer. Past a couple of absolutes like the Koss Pro4AA and that Sony model Hollywood loves, there are no good single answers (I can't handle listening to either of those for long periods). The best you can do, particularly when you're star...

You may have a long wait. Scientists have trouble with Audacity because it's not a WAV or Mathematics editor. It's a sound editor. If you can't hear your work, that doesn't seem a good fit for us.
