Re: White Space
That just begs the question then. Why did someone think it was desirable to produce a new feature that so obviously violates natural production flow? It could be a "B Word." The damage just wasn't evil enough to ring bells. It certainly produces (possibly) unintended, undesirable results a...

Re: stylus/turntable acting as mic, picking up background no
And yes, archive sound files need to be in uncompressed, top quality WAV, not MP3. You can make an MP3 or any other compressed sound format for any player from a WAV, but you can't go backwards. Once you compress sound into MP3, the MP3 compression damage is burned in and it's permanent.

Re: stylus/turntable acting as mic, picking up background no
You can do some sleuthing. Start Audacity recording and scratch the area just to the left of the FN key on your MBP. Then thumb (gently) the stylus on the turntable. I expect only the stylus to make (loud) noise. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/ScratchTest2.wav I'm not shocked that loud noises ...

Re: copying cds..
IT SEEMS TO BE COMPLICATED.. It does, yes. There is no "copy CD" unless you have a stand-alone player which can do that. The process is to "rip" the show from the original CD and burn it onto a new blank CD. Two separate steps. Audacity won't do any of those things. Audacity can...

Chances are good that's Windows "helping you."
That sound like Windows Enhanced Services trying to make your song into a conference call...and it hates music.

Re: Playback through computer speakers
My Zoom H4 has a decision tree I need to climb. I have to decide whether I need it to act as a live USB microphone or a USB file transfer device, and they're different. So that may be able to resolve one problem right there. Dig in your instructions. Audacity can establish a sound pathway independen...

Or more likely, it was easier to code.Someone obviously thought at some time that it was a good idea, and made it so.
So it's Reason Number 7.
"We've always done it that way."
I can't find the full list. I need to find somebody who used to work at the same company.

Re: isolate a specific frequency
less-unpleasant It won't be theatrical any more. And that is the goal, right? "The happiest moment in my life....etc" probably doesn't sound like a noisy telephone call. Ooo, Ooo. If you have access to the church, you can get a much closer acoustic match to the original performance by mic...

How about the service that's constantly polling the USB connection to check for activity?I was suspecting the LCD display driver, because who else would operate as slowly as 1kHz?
