Re: Single headset for multiple PCs - simultaneous conversations

That's a corporate communications installation. That's not someone setting up to read for an audiobook or copy over some tapes.

Without being supersonically nit-picky about this, but was there an Audacity question anywhere in there?

Re: All Files Orphaned After Crash (10.15.4 / 2.4.2)

2 TB of free space That's not the only place you can run into problems. Audacity does a lot of its processing, filtering, and effecting in memory with occasional kicks out to the drive here and there. Macs make it super easy to leave things running in memory rather than go to the bother and annoyan...

Re: Error in recovery after crash

It's not unusual for a crash to cause progressive instability. The project is recovered, but then starts falling apart bit by bit.

Start over.

Re: Error in recovery after crash

all open files except for the podcast We have to be able to follow you. So all the mono tracks were recovered but the stereo track failed? I had to restart the computer. Historical jokes aside, Windows machines just don't crash that much any more—unless yours does. Does it? Is this a normal occurre...

Re: USB headset - record both caller and myself

Fair warning there is a delay between the end of the performance and the delivery of the files as Zoom "processes" the data, so don't promise somebody instant posting of your show. Zoom went underwater for a while when everybody on earth with a pulse wanted to Zoom at the same time.

Re: Error Importing: aup is an Audacity Project file.

I recorded a 2-hour long audio with my friend in march 2020.
Which Audacity are you using? Help > About.

Re: Error Importing: aup is an Audacity Project file.

The AUP file is a text file and will open in a text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit. If you do that (don't save anything), you should get pages of English-like programming language such as this. Re: Complete Beginner - Audio sounds echoy/reverby?

You'll need to fix that before you make another recording. There are no good tools to "clean that up." That's a good one. I can't decide if that's feedback, microphone distortion, or plain old room echo. May be more than one problem. Have you been able to make a "clean" recording...

Re: Instrument Recording incorrectly

Mount it in the system as stereo (two waves) instead of mono. The sound channel should go back up to normal volume, but it will be on the left and you'll have one blank track. Use the drop-down menu on the left of the track > Split Stereo to Mono . Delete the dead track. There are two ways to deal w...

Recorded with a Shure 57
Those are impossible to overload, but what they're plugged into can have problems. As above, what's it plugged into?
