Re: CD DRIVE

most CD drives will read mini CDs. Have you tried it? I'm perfectly comfortable with the drawer type players doing that. There's a special depression in the guides. I have two players which support minis. I'm probably not going to put a mini-CD in my Mac Laptop slot—even if it says it's OK. Koz

Re: How to remove JUST one singer's voice from a song?

I thought I recognized Sparks. No. You're stuck. We can't take apart a mixed performance into individual voices or instruments. Vocal Removal is a special case where the performer is in the exact stereo center of the performance, and there are a number of other requirements There is new vocal isolat...

Re: lame command line export

You don't have to run Lame inside Audacity. Lame can be installed and run as a stand-alone program with as many options as you could want.

Re: Vocal removal on documentaries

that's where I get most of my stuff MP3 has trouble performing post production because of the built-in compression damage. MP3 isn't open-ended. It's designed as an end-product. You make an MP3 > Full Stop. Not take your MP3 and make something else out of it. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It imports t...

Re: Can't import WAV file

Traditionally, computer files have used a three-letter extension to tell you what kind of file it is. Also traditionally, Windows hides it. You can tell Windows to show you file extensions to at least give you an idea of what you have. Hidden File Extensions - Windows -- Start > My Computer > Tools ...

Re: Importing to stereo tracks

There may be more than one way to do that. Import both shows one after the other. They will appear in Audacity one over the other as "MONO" shows. Smash each L...R fader all the way to the direction you want each one to be. Export WAV (Microsoft). I'm using a quirk of Audacity stereo manag...

Re: help with file recovery from temp

Didn't it offer to recover [Yes|No]? I didn't think there was a search and rescue component to it.

Unless you were using a really early Audacity.... What version are you using?

I'm using Audacity 2.1.0 and 2.1.1.

Re: Adjust volume for overdubbing

If you're doing this right, actual overdubbing, the show is in two separate tracks and you can adjust each one as you wish before combining them into one show. That is what you did, right? The overdubbing process plays old tracks, click tracks, or synchronization tracks into your headphones while yo...
