Yes, but sing to it as in plain "singing in the shower," or sing to it as in overdubbing to record your work? I'm trying to establish if there's a microphone involved in any of this.

Re: Audacity (not responding)
How? Describe what you're doing and include part numbers and details. Pretend I want to do it the same way.I use Audacity all the time for my choir practice.

Re: Audacity (not responding)
Reinstalling Audacity doesn't reset Audacity. During the installation process, it should ask you if you want to reset all your preferences (or some words like that). Say yes.

Re: Suddenly not recording
Which Audacity do you have? I was just talking VOIP on the same headset Which could kill you right there. Audacity doesn't get along with Skype and other conference and communications programs. They tend to fight for mastery of the microphone and headphone. Did you really close Skype, or leave it ch...

Re: Normalizing volume across files
Koz prefers generally -3.2 dB for Mp3 export It turns out that if you use the Normalize thing at -3.2, you are much less likely to go over -3.0 when you convert your work to MP3. MP3 is an imperfect format. It re-arranges the sound a little to get the smaller file sizes. Sometimes, for odd technica...

But not half as lost as we are. Please give us the INFO from that pink band above. Which Windows, etc. Don't abbreviate. Then tell us in straight narration what you're doing. "I'm trying to record my voice with a logitech microphone." Like this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/Documents...

Re: No Mic Input
However, when I switch back to mono, it no longer picks up the mic. Right. The Steinberg is sending a stereo signal and Audacity has to match. If you look really close at the back of the Steinberg, the two microphone connectors are 1/L and 2/R. That means anything you plug into the first (1) connec...

Re: can't record from mini-disk onto computer
That isn't exactly what I said. Check it at the UCA202. That will also reveal another of Window's tricks, that it sometimes sends playback sound out to a USB sound device whether you want it to or not.I've checked the mini-disk and that is playing fine.

Re: Shouldn't the spectrum of a sine tone be an impulse, rat
tiny, thin purple needles And thinking about this a little more, technically, what you're looking for can't be seen. Don't confuse printed artist interpretations in a book with an actual analyzer. A pure, correct analysis of an undistorted sine wave might be less than one computer screen pixel wide...
