Re: Fastened audio on overdubbed tracks

If you're overdubbing, the computer has to play the backing tracks perfectly and record your new track perfectly at the same time. If the computer isn't up to the stress of doing that, the new track may record badly or slowly which will be fast when played after the performance. You can produce a fa...

Re: "Mix+Render To New Track" Lossy?

Isn't there a setting to mix and render to a new, separate track?

Which version of Audacity are you using?

Re: Project crashed while saving, can't open again

Last time it was easier to make a record again Are you keeping safety copies of all your recordings? You should never need to live record something again. Open up the backup show or a copy of the backup show and use that to find out what's wrong. No, Audacity should not do that, but errors like thi...

Re: Podcast recording

Local recording and shipping sound files across the internet is also highly recommended...if all your performers are good at shooting themselves. That's how this was done. I know it looks like a fancy-pants Skype session, but it's good old-fashioned copying sound files hither and yon. https://www.yo...

Re: Podcast recording

There is one podcast and poster who just set up Audacity and Skype and he's been recording his Skype podcast ever since. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=71673&p=208913 http://reellife.podomatic.com/ He was, as we say, supersonically lucky. That doesn't work for most podcas...

Re: Another Blue Yeti Recording - Noise

Your computer may use draw on the five volt line to tell if something is connected. This may also be a shift between USB 2 and USB 3. Flynwill is the only other person I know that performed this five volt substitution trick. I'll see if he wants to join the thread.

Re: File Fragments

Is there any way you can put everything back where it was? You are looking at an Audacity Project _DATA folder. It's intended to work with an associated AUP file to reconstruct your show. We're hoping you still have your AUP file. The AUP file and the associated _DATA folder need to be in the same l...

Re: How to match bit rate of original file for game? [2.2.1

11025Hz, and 32-bit float. Audacity doesn't have Clip Info, so you can't use that to get a good idea what the original work was. You can use Media Info to tell you about the original work. http://mediaarea.net/en-us/MediaInfo/Download Don't download the one with the installer. I think you're confus...

Re: Saving files in place

what have I missed Audacity isn't a WAV editor. It's an Audio Production Editor and its natural product format is the Project, not a sound file. That's why Audacity doesn't save sound files. There's an interesting split between other programs which work this way, I think Final Cut Pro does this, an...

Re: Mac OS X 10.11; Audacity 2.1.1 dmg installer

I recorded a Voice track How? The Mobile Pre USB is just an interface. Not a microphone. Both exported files mp3 & aiff have no audio! How are you listening to them? In detail. We had a recent poster who created damaged sound files by accident which would only play on proper stereo systems. The...
