Re: Skipping During iPhone Message Transfer

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#noise6 Audacity itself doesn't make noises like that, but the computer around it may. Non-regular noises may mean the computer is having a hard time keeping up. Sound recording is not like recalculating a spreadsheet. The comput...

Re: Can MIDI be made less percussive?

Audacity doesn't speak MIDI enough to be useful, and MIDI instrument sounds are pulled from the MIDI interpreter or player. One MIDI drum solo will sound different on different computers or sequencers. If your bass synth sounds bad, then it may be the wrong one for you. I don't know of any way to ch...

Re: Buzzing and "Pre-echo" in electronic copy

If the tapes have been around longer than you have, there's a good chance of getting "print-through." One layer of tape will print a very quiet copy of itself on the layer underneath. I don't know of any way to get rid of that in post production. It's exactly the same problem as voice echo...

Re: Buzzing and "Pre-echo" in electronic copy

I'm also getting a "pre-echo" That's the problem right there. Do you hear that pre-echo when you simply listen to the tapes without the computer, say with good headphones? We have no good tools for that. I applied a number of corrections and patches (attached), but it would be really good...

Re: Don't understand how USB mixer is supposed to work with

playback volume of the finished product be as close to the volume of professionally recorded CD's as possible. That one at least, is going to be Post Post. Very few store-bought music productions are "natural." They're all boosted so as to compete in the Loudness War. "My song is lou...

Re: No Sound Output

If the company is at all on top of this, they will have the "A Loudness Contour" measurements all ready to go — and be neighborhood environment legal. Your only hope is to have your own measurements and have them louder and more objectionable than theirs. And that means a real sound meter,...

Re: No Sound Output

We have not had good experiences with hackintoshes. Their low cost is more than compensated by lack of convenience and stability.
