Did the sound test from the MBP built-in microphone work? I have done sound jobs with the built-in. Unlike Windows laptops, it's not trash.

And by extension, if you have the wrong one, you're only option is buy a new interface, find a different machine or roll your machine back to the older system.

While 250GB hard drive seems like a toy compared to modern drives, it's a Solid State Drive and it's the same one I have in my MBP. It's non-magnetic, highly shock resistant and very, very fast.
