Re: Recording noise getting worse... not better
I'm surprised that you got this far without knowing that AUP isn't a sound file. It's a project manager text file. You can export a ten second clip as WAV (Microsoft) and post that. Try to get some performance and a second or two of silence in the same clip. Anyway. One thing you can do is make a re...

Re: Workflow for noise reduction of mov/dv file
Last word was Audacity will read the audio from many video formats, it won't write one. You still need a video editor to produce a corrected video file.

Re: Low volume from ATR2100 USB microphone
I'll tell you how I got there, but I need to get to a grown-up computer. There are tricks to using some of the tools. In the mean time, you should download and install ACX Check and Steve's Vocal Filter. These are from kozco.com because I can never find the ones on the forum. Have you ever installed...

Re: Low volume from ATR2100 USB microphone
I did get the 'six inches' voice to pass ACX AudioBook with a little patching here and there. I didn't need noise reduction, either.
Attached, last sentence (don't worry about the rest of that).

Re: Low volume from ATR2100 USB microphone
We've been watching an unfortunate design standard for USB microphones. They're low. On purpose. Yours may be a little too low for comfort but that's probably normal. The makers have to deal with unskilled users and an uncontrolled environment. No knobs or adjustments. Proper level is very difficult...

But you're not going to post the clip.
We have a label call 'Uncooperative Poster." Would you like that?
So far this has been a multi-chapter complaint session.

Re: Small mouse pointer on Windows 10
You can get wacky pointer behavior if you have different tools selected. In general, you should be using the "I Beam" tool from the tools toolbar.

Re: A salutory lesson
the gaps between words are already there and set by the narrator. No, they're not. They're set by the narrator plus the noise the microphone is making plus the noise the apartment is making. If you stopped talking and the sound on the recording went to near zero, there would be no problem. But that...

Re: A salutory lesson
I have no raw files to go back and play with so have the horrible feeling that two months of work has just one up in smoke. And that, in one sentence, is probably the worst newbie mistake. We can't take effects out of a production. Once you burn effects and filters into your work and "step on&...
