Again, this is a fuzzy target we give people starting from dead zero. You're not. You have a known, good, working production pipeline and you should hang onto it with white knuckles.

Re: MP3 Files won't play in Audacity
The waves can be seen visibly dancing but no output. The blue waves in Audacity don't move. The cursor travels left to right during the performance and if you have it set to auto update, the screen will switch to the next active segment. The sound meters do move and what they look like depends on t...

Re: To profesional radio people or to those wo know about it
No it doesn't. I got my values from somebody responding to a challenge on the forum. All I know about is the first value, Compression ratio, and the two numbers are normal 0.5 and the one I use 0.77. This is an illustration of the three blue waves. Top is the original. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity...

Re: Not sure about decibel levels
If you have no troubles producing a client deliverable, you can probably leave it right there. Our goal is recurring peaks at 50% or -6dB - the yellow sound meter zone if you're on Audacity 2.1.0 or 2.1.1. The sound meters are one of the significant improvements compared with earlier Audacity versio...

Re: Background noise reduction problem
There's another level of this. The performer sounds really good, like she does this all the time. "Everybody knows" an announcer/presenter needs to noise remove work before submitting it to a client (you).

Re: Background noise reduction problem
If your audience will hear via telephone, that only has a bandwidth of about 200Hz-4000Hz. But the client is a human and I bet they're expecting a clean, clear recording. > my colleague in Switzerland receives them so she can check it before delivering the files. There is a tool called a noise-gate...

Re: Recording noise getting worse... not better
Having the Snowball fail, you can't simply go and Google up a better microphone. You join the Universal, Eternal Quest for a Good Home Microphone (to speak in book titles). It's such a dreadful experience that I'm experimenting with stand-alone recorders that avoid using the computer altogether. App...

If you have a USB printer, it should be the same cable. USB A on one side and USB B on the other.

Re: Recording noise getting worse... not better
Beware the Yeti Curse. "What's that singing whiny sound behind my voice?" That's a combination of ratty USB power, cheap USB cable and inexpensive microphone with no power filtering. It's not easily solvable in hardware or software. You can gently suppress your hiss and it obediently fades...
