moving laptop and microphone further away from each other
You don't have to do that forever. Just for the 30 seconds it will take to find out if that helps. You can actually read the side of the milk carton. Text is not important.

Re: Burning Audacity audio formats.

Remember, compact disc was developed in 1980. There was no serious audio compression yet. There was only linear Pule Code Modulation. That's why there are no "low quality" versions of CD. You either get an Audio CD or you don't. You should be warned if you haven't already that MP3 and othe...

Re: Click noise when cutting audio

See my response just above yours. You can also get the condition where you slice off one of the humps. That sounds bad too. If you zoom way into your edit, you should never have a sharp vertical slice anywhere in your work. That's almost always a bad edit. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/zoomin...

Re: Same audio

Chris's Compressor can do that. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ Chris wrote it so he could listen to opera in the car. It dynamically evens out large volume variations and it works look-ahead, so it doesn't get surprised by odd conditions. I use it on a...

Stuttering Cursor is a known problem. See if any of this fits. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#pauses It's not MIDI. MIDI is machine control MIDI can tell a keyboard what song to play and exactly how. The Zoom ads claim you should be able to send audio down th...

Re: Burning Audacity audio formats.

A CD-r will only hold something like 700 MB - 70 mins. 80 minutes. It's famously large enough for a certain opera. You very rarely get that, though. I use a target of 78 minutes of actual show. Less if it's a million smaller shows. The up side of this format is it will play on anything. Audio CD ha...

And do keep an eye out for the ability to make it worse. If you decide to read from the laptop a little closer and the noise gets worse, we pretty much nailed it right there.

Do you keep your phone with you? I've had my phone ruin recordings.

Re: Recording of computer playback drops away to nothing

You do have the odd duck problem. Normally, when people complain of recording volume suddenly sounding like a tunnel and fading to almost nothing, it's Windows Enhanced Services. Enhanced Services is designed to benefit voices, but it hates music. But you're getting this effect without live recordin...
