Re: Record system sounds and mic

I think what kills you is the insistence on using one computer for everything. You could record the system and game sound with any of the tools that allow "recording from the internet," but then capture your voice with your stand-alone voice recorder or second computer. I've done that. I h...

Re: Possible? Two mics into left and right channel into Auda

We don't have any idea which microphone you have, but if it has switchable patterns, you might make a single microphone work better. Note (attached) the first pattern and last pattern records many directions, not just in front. The first pattern is omni-directional. Record from all directions. That'...

Re: Possible? Two mics into left and right channel into Auda

Use Ambient Noise Reduction can give you that 'music in a rain barrel' sound. Still, even if that works, I'm betting you still don't get both microphones. This is what my UCA-202 looks like in System Preferences (attached). That will give me stereo input and output and a headphone connection suitab...

Re: Possible? Two mics into left and right channel into Auda

15" Macbook pro retina Right. You bought the super screen at the expense of the sound connections. Unless your System Preferences tell you otherwise, that's the end of the stereo analog connections. I note you never post that you've been into System Preferences and looked at the settings. Have...

Re: Record system sounds and mic

I think if you were using your soundcard for everything, you had a fighting chance to make this work. But you were using your USB microphone and the Sound Card which are different sound devices. Audacity will only record from one device at a time, so I think you're stuck.

Re: Latency

The other problem with obsession is the settings might not stay there. You're not recording on a Digital Audio Workstation. You're recording on a PC designed for Skype and spreadsheets. Depending on about a hundred other conditions, the settings may not stay cycle-accurate.

Re: Possible? Two mics into left and right channel into Auda

The transition from one microphone to two or more is serious stuff. You have a proper stereo line in on your Macbook. Do you? Which MBP do you have? I have a 15". Like I said, I specifically bought it because it has "real" stereo connections in and out. If you have a 13" of that ...

Re: Latency

The errors don't add. If you use the same click track, drum or other rhythm reference for all the instruments, it doesn't matter how many instruments you perform. The truly obsessive will want to get the errors down to the single cycle, but I don't know that kind of accuracy is required. http://kozc...
