Re: My Blue Yeti making a constant Static noise?

There is a sister posting to this one where someone has a Yeti with a clicking sound. It has so far resisted any effort to solve it.

Microphones do break and USB microphones have the nasty problem of loud and powerful data streams in the same package as tiny, delicate microphone signals.

Re: Audacity + Blue Yeti -> Weird Click Sound. Your Opinion?

Yetis and (and Snowballs) don't work for everybody. You are replacing, in one package, a separate analog microphone, preamplifier and digitizer. Those tend to be universal, they work for everybody and that's the configuration recommended by ACX AudioBook. The Yeti is an abbreviation. USB Turntables ...

Re: Automatically increasing volume

People do manage to record Skype conversations as successful podcasts in Audacity, but they're digital celebrities and their experience is not universal. The only guaranteed method is to use a separate application that "knows" how Skype works such as something from the Pamela suite or one ...

Re: My Blue Yeti making a constant Static noise?

The Snowball uses a USB A to B cable. I'm guessing the Yeti does, too. You can temporarily sub the printer cable in case it's that.

Re: My Blue Yeti making a constant Static noise?

Neither the Snowball nor the Yeti have any power processing. They try to make audio with the 5 volts that comes down the USB cable (the one that normally runs your keyboard or mouse). If there's anything wrong with that 5 volts, both microphones have problems. If you're just unlucky, you get the Yet...

Re: Ripping cassettes at high speed

Maybe if you had a high-speed duplicator. Just blasting a tape past normal heads at high speed is almost guaranteed to lose the crisp high frequencies—given that the tape had them in the first place. Heads are tuned and balanced for speed. Nowhere is it written you couldn't balance a set for double...

Re: Setting Recording Length.

You shouldn't stay on the edge of your seat for long periods. Your knees will fall asleep.

Yeah. Audacity has timers. It's one of the few things it will do in real time.

And any minute I'm going to find the instructions........

Re: Fourier: musical spectrum

I see there are a number of near misses in there. How does the software decide which note to land on?

There was a piano accompanist who once complained: "I play on the black keys and I play in the white keys and she sings in the cracks."
