Re: Loud brief hissing upon recording hissing

insanely loud hissing noise My first, no-thought processes at all idea was noise reduction. Auto Noise Reduction works by sensing when a single sound has been there for a while and the process identifies the sound and kills it. You can listen to this happening on some cellphones. You, however, have...

That maybe an "old Windows" thing.

This thread seems to have eventually solved it.

Re: Can you raise the noise floor level in a recorded Track?

-93, too low. It's impossible. Nobody can record directly into -93dB. You had to have applied processing or audio corrections, or had them applied for you. ACX isn't fond of that. It's too easy to make the track sound weird. Putting the noise back in with post-production processing isn't a terrific...

Re: Opening AUP Files

Have you used Audiotonic before?

Instead of double-clicking on an AUP file and let Windows figure it out, Right-Click the AUP file > Open With and point it to Audacity.

Or Open Audacity first. Then File > Open and point it at your AUP file.

Re: trying to bounce audio and keep current timestamp

The desperation method is to deselect your track (click anywhere else) and Generate > Silence. It will start from time zero. Make it longer than your existing track. When you export the show, Audacity will export everything, a mix of new silence and your track.

Re: All Files Orphaned After Crash (10.15.4 / 2.4.2)

I don't think I had anything odd going. It doesn't have to be odd. How many markers do you have under apps in your dock—usually at the bottom of your screen. Depending on your Mac, it can be little black ticks or little lights. If you have a browser and Audacity running at the same time, you have t...

Re: Selection Tools Overlapping

The tiny ribbed bar to the left of each tool is a positioning grabber. Click the microphone's grabber and push to the right. You can redesign the entire top tool kit like that. You can also click on the right edge of some tools and make them bigger. I like to make the bouncing sound meter really lon...
