Someone will correct me, but doesn't that follow the Audacity playback volume slider (speaker icon)? My two volume controls "stick" where they are, so it's possible yours may, too.

Re: Audacity Can't Hear My Audio
Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Audio > Input. Do you see your connection there? USB-AUDIO, something something (we don't know how you're connected yet). Does the blue ball sound meter bounce when you say something?

Re: recording video as well as sound
So it's shoot the video with what will become the guide sound track. Load it into the video editor, split off the sound track, open it in Audacity and use that as the base or timing track for overdubbing. Export the final production Audacity track and import into the video in the video editor. It's ...

Re: Make gunshots sound more realistic
Right. And after you get one convincing report, rapid fire will smoosh everything together, but the two ends of the firefight have to work to carry the effect. The length of delay will vary from gun to gun as they will be different distances from the trees.

Re: Make gunshots sound more realistic
The sample is of a clean report followed by a fractional second later echo from trees and hills. Clearly an open field shoot. I don't know that one simple echo is going to do it.

Re: No sound in exported FLAC or WAV - MP3 = ok
Doesn't VLC have a track INFO? What's that say on one of the WAV files?
I've gotten big files before when I selected Export instead of Export Selected and it tried to export the whole album instead of one song. But that just gives a big sound file. Not a broken one.

We can't see over your shoulder. You'll have to tell us which Mac, which Audacity (all three numbers), which mixer and how is it connected to the computer. I'm typing on a MacBook Pro, OS-X 10.9.5. What do you have?

Re: What happened??
Got it finished and stored. Did it work? Was that first recording successful? Sometimes problems show up way earlier than anyone thinks. Did you actually play back that recording and listen, or did you see the blue waves and that was that? Audacity checks for USB connections when it starts. If you ...

Re: multiple files noise removal and loudness unification
Volume doesn't bother me, is there roughly the same number of people and noises in the hall for each of the performances? If not, there is little chance you are going to make this sound like one show. The grownups have a hard time doing that. Did you have the recorder in the back of the hall? We can...
