Re: sound is distorted in project file
What was it supposed to be? It sounds like you had a connection problem with the microphone or show sound system. Audacity will not automatically recover from a failure like that. It will start recording anything it can find that's still alive, such as the laptop built-in microphone. And then stay t...

USB 16gb memory sticks for storage instead of hard drive You should be using a solid state drive. Among other things, the speed pickup when you get your first SSD means you'll never go back. SSDs use data shuffling and interleaving to keep you from wearing out one part of the drive. I'm pretty sure...

Re: Voice-over set up with dynamic mic
Do you have good, sealed on the head, wired headphones? You can plug those into either the RODE Podcaster USB or the Solo. Listening to yourself goes a long way to keep your performance volume from going nuts. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/DavidGreene_RE-20-650w.jpg You can't listen to the...

You might make good use of this design. This is a Kitchen Table Sound Studio. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=369938#p369938 It won't get rid of all noises, but it will help a lot and it will make vocal echoes vanish. It's a home-made version of this. https://voiceoveressentials.com/p...

Re: Voice-over set up with dynamic mic
There is a caution that occurs to me almost immediately. You're not expecting these to match are you? I can see you getting on a plane with a basket of sound files expecting to cut them in with the Yeti works. I think I'm pretty safe that's just not going to happen. You can carefully do stand-alone ...

Re: Cannot Get Audacity 2.4.2 to record. Tried everything--even two different computers.
The Behringer units come out of the box as plain sound devices. Record from a microphone or other device plugged in, and play computer sound to your headphones. The Monitor switch lets you hear your own live sound on the way to the recording system. You need that if you intend to overdub or sound-on...

Re: Why can't I convert MIDI to MP3 with Audacity?
MIDI isn't music. MIDI is machine control. So the job is to make MIDI control a machine (the computer) and then tell Audacity to record the computer. You can get odd music with MIDI. The actual sound depends on the computer, not MIDI. So if you play your MIDI Piano song on three different computers,...
