There was another poster who demanded we produce a filter for all his environment noises: small room echo, neighbor noises, traffic, etc.

Outdoors is generally considered to have no reverb (echo) and has a lot of the same characteristics of a studio, the studio being missing bird noises, wind noise, traffic etc. You can put across somebody stepping outdoors in a theatrical production by suddenly deleting the small room echo. Quick Note. If the MP3 plays silent, pause it and start it again. I may have discovered an "unintended feature" of Audacity MP3 System.

That's pretty complete. Is this a good time to find out what the job is? The capture step (microphone, etc) will get you in trouble far sooner than picking the wrong dither.

The first obvious possibility is having the two just miss each other. Audacity checks for new devices when it starts, so connect the turntable, let it settle and then start Audacity. Use the Audacity Device Toolbar to switch to the turntable (if it's listed). http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/dev...

Without hearing it, I can guess that it's moving or changing noise. That just kills the Noise Reduction tool. Noise Reduction only works on sounds that never change over the course of the clip such as fan noise, air conditioning or microphone hum. It will not do crowd sounds, jet going over or other...
