Re: Helping naming and fixing my audio recording issue
Either you or the person on the other end (or both) were not wearing headphones. You are listening to Skype do its echo cancellation and balancing act. The process is not perfect. It's the same honky, bubbling sound you get when someone is trying to talk to you face-to-face cellphone chat on a crowd...

For example, if you recorded the analog with the computer built-in soundcard, but you played it with a USB sound system, the two show du...

It can also be argued that counting tenths of dB isn't a good thing. People have a lot of trouble hearing a one or two dB change.

Re: How is "clipping" determined?
Usually preceded by the phrase, "Help me clean up ..."
We don't do simple sentences so good: "The audio is clipped." But we can do subjunctive: "The audio very probably would have been clipped had it been a little louder."
My English teacher would be proud.

Re: Editing chains - equalization scale?
Does it do similar things wrong over several different shows? Repeatability is a big deal when solving problems like this.

When you restart your Mac, does it take a really long time to give you the chong? How many apps do you keep open in the doc?

Re: Assign RAM as Temp file
Pen and paper. What about using a really fast pen? I know Gregg shorthand. That can double writing speed or better right there although interchangeability can suffer. Nobody uses Pitman. Use coated paper stock/glossy or photo/glossy to cut down on paper friction, although if you're not careful, you...

Re: Audio Mixing
I don't think it's a trick of the mix. I think he had a "happy birthday" synth track as a separate element and he just mixed it into everything else. Especially since the sound "sticks out" on the end of the phrase in reverb after everything else stops. Given he's a grand master ...
