Re: Improving a bad speech recording - help needed!
We can't remove effects and filters from a recording. Once somebody tries to correct a work, that's the end of the story. We recommend very strongly that you post only original, unfiltered work to the forum for comment or help. Anything we do now is just going to fight the earlier corrections. Chanc...

How close is Make-ACX? Apply all the filters and corrections needed to force a submission into ACX Compliance.

Re: Balancing audio for a podcast
What you have is highly desirable because with the voices split, you can apply corrections to one voice (volume corrections, filtering) without messing up the other. People with both voices on one track have no correction or filtering options. I assume one single stereo track, right? Two blue waves?...

Re: Matching Microphones
When somebody says "shotgun," I go right to the Sennheisers and Rodes. That would probably have worked, or worked better. If by "shotgun" you mean the four-inch microphone that comes with a camcorder, then no. Those are designed to be wide-acceptance for the consumer market and w...

Re: Teaming up with an audio engineer?
I have removed your email from the posting. It's a terrifically bad idea to post a hot email address on the forum. We get a lot of SPAM you never see because the elves remove it before it becomes visible. But they can read postings. That, in turn, makes it difficult to post contact information. If y...

Re: problem with playing sound over playback
You should not select Edit > Preferences > Recording: [_]Playthrough. You should select Overdubbing in that panel. You should be recording from a very specific thing, not Stereo Mix or any other collection of all the sounds on your computer. If you like to record YouTube or other on-line sound, that...
Re: no signal
it does not change when i change the outputvolume of my recorder Are you sure you have output volume controls? They have to specifically say so, not just "Volume." Most tape machines short of broadcast and recording studio don't. They have input controls only. You can put Audacity into di...

Re: relative quality from recorded or converted audio
Aren't you producing a music production for a North-East radio station? It's not hard to bump up against the 64 quality wall. As I recall, you're downloading music and creating a show at home and then the station required either MP3 submission, or Audio CD. We strongly recommended the CD. The statio...

Re: Error message when trying to record
Audacity can't make Windows fall over, but device drivers can. Make sure you have the latest ones from Scarlett. When you re-install Audacity, make sure it resets, too. There is a selector about half-way through the installer asking whether you want to clear all settings. Say yes. If you don't do th...
