Re: no sound coming through computer
If you have blue waves and can see the sound meters bouncing, you are getting a recording, whether or not you can hear it. Sometimes, Windows can freak out when you plug in a USB Sound Device and will mistakenly assume sound should go both directions to the device instead of recording from the devic...

Re: clipping problem with soundflower
change the latency correction too? Latency Correction is a post-production setting having to do with matching music tracks during overdubbing/sound-on-sound. It has nothing to do with straight recording or playback. I would expect Audacity to play already recorded works perfectly with no noise. The...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
There is a posting where ACX tells us that requiring Noise Reduction is a sure sign you're doing it wrong! That was from an ACX posting. I did the forum post and I just posted a screen cap from them. There is an unfortunately popular idea that you can create a messy AudioBook reading, flog it until...

Re: Improving a bad speech recording - help needed!
Luckily I managed to get hold of the guy who did the original recording That is lucky, yes. And just because I'm not done throwing cold water yet, it's possible we're not going to do much better than the original correction. Even worse, if the file was made with a recorder that has built-in correct...

Re: Software detection when downloading
Nobody can tell if you're doing it in real time. Audacity has techniques for recording "What's Playing on the Computer." So you can record while you're listening. Most people aren't happy with that, so they go the download route. If you try downloading the song, that will trigger flags. Koz

I think it was Beethoven: There's all the black and white keys. What's the problem?

Re: Balancing audio for a podcast
You can also fade one voice slightly to one side and the other to the other, but that's generally a bad idea because if you're wearing earphones, it makes you want to whip your head back and forth. Even in fancy surround-sound entertainment systems, most of the actor dialog is dead center.

Re: where is my opened project?
A Project is an AUP file with instructions to Audacity how to construct the show out of the work in the separate _DATA folder. I have a .aup file in a folder witch contains all data files. It doesn't work like that. Pull the AUP file out of the _DATA folder, double click it and see if the show opens...
