Re: [newbie] How to extract multiple segments from audio fil

One way is to create a number of blank tracks (Tracks > Add New) and copy/paste segments from existing tracks into the new ones one at a time. That means you can use the MUTE and SOLO buttons to the left of each track to turn it on and off and the Time Shift Tool... http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/...

Re: Fastidious images on VLC after conversion

I cleaned up your post.

Where did you get Audacity? This is the official source for the latest version:

When it asks you if you want to reset everything, say yes.

Then run a good virus checker in extended mode. The one that runs all night.

Re: Blue Yeti Microphone Mute Button

The Yeti microphone is not a gift from the angels. It has a very attractive feature set, but it got the very attractive price by not including anything that wasn't absolutely necessary for a majority of users. Many people use a Yeti perfectly every day, but many people post on the forum with strange...

Re: mute take vocal tracks

When you get everything just the way you want it, File > Export: WAV (Microsoft). That's your master. Then File > Export: MP3 if you need it for posting or a personal music player. Don't leave out the WAV step. You can't re-edit an MP3 without causing sound damage. You can also File > Save a Project...

Re: mute take vocal tracks

You can import many different tracks and they will stack one on top of the other and play at the same time. You can use the MUTE and SOLO buttons to the left of each track to turn them on and off. You can use the envelope tool (two white arrows and bent blue line) to fade in and out of each track no...

Re: won't recognize audio devices

Did you restart the machine anywhere in here? When the system gets confused, sometimes that's the best thing to do.

Re: won't recognize audio devices

I accidentally closed Audacity.
What does that mean? You closed the laptop with Audacity running?

It does that when the data stream stops or becomes damaged for some reason. M-Audio Fast Track Pro, also known as the Avid M-Audio Fast Track Pro works best when it's married to an Avid editing system. If you don't happen to have a multi-thousand dollar Avid, you should make sure you have the latest...

Re: Two mics. No mixer. Two person interview.

Ever use a conferencing microphone? First, you need to make sure to plug it into the Mic-In of a computer. It uses the computer five volts to run the electronics. It gets the echo cancellation and noise reduction by gating and filtering which can sound a lot like a bad face-on cellphone call if you ...

CAD u37 (non bi-directional). A little scrambled there. The U37 is cardioid. Receives best from the front (speak into the logo). It's side-fire instead of end-fire, but the illustration is the pattern. Anybody speaking from the back is going to vanish. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Cardioi...
