I wouldn't be so quick to use "the B Word." It's a bug when hundreds of other people complain about the same thing.

Re: Possible to sound better?
You can't like your microphone that much with that list of corrections and 30dB noise reduction. Post a sound sample before you do anything to it. Record, Stop, Export. Leave two seconds of silence (hold your breath) and announce normally for ten seconds. Use WAV (Microsoft). I need to listen when I...

Re: Noise Reduction/Removal
I'm actually not kidding. There is a sister hardware error where you can touch your computer and the hum will suddenly vanish. So you can see if you play your cards exactly right, it's possible to lean the right way in your seat and cause problems. "Y'know you're right. Every time I shifted to ...

Re: Noise Reduction/Removal
Room Tone does work, but it may sound funny when the hum comes back during words. That's the kind of thing they listen for. totally distorts the voice It can do that when you get a bad sample or profile...or crank the first number, reduction up past about 15 or so. I used to recommend up to 18, but ...

Re: Recording on Windows 7
I processed your pictures to a more manageable size. The yellow connector kills you for audio transfers. That's a video converter and Audacity will not know what to do with that. I recommend the Behringer UCA-202 and cousins. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650.jpg It works...

Re: Noise Reduction/Removal
I've been using the Hard Limiter at -3.2 and that seems to work. Dueling posts. I don't know how Hard Limiter works. That's one of the tools that got massaged over the last couple of Audacity versions. The final arbiter is ACX Check, followed by listening to the work. That's what's going to happen ...

Re: Noise Reduction/Removal
I'm just trying to salvage it. I remember now. Sorry. This is me going in the corner, drinking tea and not "helping" any more. Normalizing (and its cousin Amplify) just turn the volume up and down. They are not "processing" tools and after using them, you can come along later an...

Re: Audio-Technica ATR-2100 USB not recording sound
You connect the microphone and turn it on. The little light on the side comes on, right? You plug your headphones or earbuds into the socket on the bottom of the microphone and you can hear yourself (volume control on the bottom)? Start or restart Audacity. Use the Device Toolbar to select the micro...

Re: Background Mic Enhancement
There is one far out there hope. Each time the low performer speaks, are they by themselves? Always? If so, you can use the envelope tool and reduce the volume all the rest of the time and make them match the low microphone. Then bring everything up. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/envelope_too...

Re: Background Mic Enhancement
You have a video with five separate sound tracks? If what you really have is a video with five tracks mixed into one stereo or mono track, than you're stuck. We can't split a mixed recording back out into individual performers. Some people have gotten relief with the compression tools. Effect > Comp...
