Re: Possible to sound better?

Do I throw out all my steps in the first post The first sign of trouble in your post was a very high noise reduction value. It's impossible to make even the new Noise Reduction tool sound gentle and clear with high numbers. It can give bad cellphone or talking in a wineglass sound. You put just eno...

Re: Possible to sound better?

That's it. I changed the volume slightly with Effect > Normalize and I did a very gentle noise removal. Attached: Last sentence. The corrected clip sounds almost exactly like the original, so there are no correction errors or sound damage. So just what you're doing will pass the ACX AudioBook techni...

Re: Static During Back End Of Podcast Recording

You can help with breath and popping noises by making the microphone about nose or eye level instead of level with or below your mouth. Note both Josh Turner and Chris Pratt are using little round pop filters, but Sarah Koenig isn't. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/JoshTurnerSings.jpg http://kozc...

Re: Possible to sound better?

I like the first sample clip. I could listen to that for a long time. MissBeccyMay needs lessons on how to run her microphone without breath noises and popping her P sounds. You can use a pop and blast filter to help. That's the little black tennis racket thing between the actor/singer and the micro...

Re: Possible to sound better?

Here's a sample without any effects at all: Getting there. I hear moving around and thumping and clunking in the silent portion. That's supposed to be just the noise the microphone and the room is making. We can't use it for noise analysis with extra noises. Here's a mini-class I wrote. http://www....

THEN use to shift tool.
If that works for you. I didn't have to do that in my test. Just click anywhere to the right of the split and push to the right.

Re: Noise Reduction/Removal

noise reduction profile for the dump truck that went by I know you don't need any more cold water poured on this project, but traffic and other constantly changing noises don't work well with Noise Reduction. As you're finding, it's required that you constantly change the profile to keep up with th...

Re: Static During Back End Of Podcast Recording

about half of the way into the 20 minute podcast, you can hear what sounds like static in the background WHILE Im speaking. And it happened the same way on multiple 20 minute podcasts? The damage appears while you're speaking but not between words? Which Audacity and which computer and OS? I use Au...

Re: HELP!! How To Cut Up The Core VO?

Did you update from Audacity 2.1.0 or earlier to 2.1.1 to get this problem? I can well imagine this is an area of Audacity ripe for changes. Traditionally, if you slipped track one to the right for any reason leaving blank (not silence) between the first musical note and zero time, it would foul up ...

Re: Possible to sound better?

We can address the low volume first. The 0dB/-10dB switch should be at 0dB. -10dB is for instruments like micing a drum set, trumpet or a Boeing jet. This is a side-fire microphone. You should be talking into the red sE logo on the side, not the end like a garden hose. It's a cardioid microphone, so...
