Re: Headphone Latency
We did have one energetic dance with a poster who plugged his microphone and computer together, got fresh coffee, and started making perfect overdubs. The factory latency setting happened to work out exactly right for him. Of course, the instant he got a new computer everything went to pieces. "...

Re: Headphone Latency
What he said. The Audacity Latency adjustment is to line up the backing track with the fresh recording. If you get that one wrong, every time you make a fresh recording, it will lay down before or after the backing track. You can fix that later with the Time Shift Tool, but that's a pain and you sho...

Re: I pass the noise floor test until I start talking..
It is suggested, strongly , that you apply all three tools in the mastering suite before you do anything else. Measure your results and then maybe apply touch ups here and there as needed. There's nothing quite like having voice processing tools fighting each other. We can give you a really good ide...

Re: Project AUP crashed and blank, Data Folder still there
Only if you system does automatic backups and it did one before you started this edit session. Is there any way I can get my project back?
The desperation methods of Project Recovery stop working if you have an edited show.

Re: Noise frequency range
I need to implement white noise ideally up to 193KHz for testing application (not only for audio). Remember that? There are radio transmitters running at that frequency and we still have to get the work out of the computer and into the test. Further, for good stable digital accuracy, you could need...

Re: Noise frequency range
There is a caution here. Audacity regularly burns scientists because if it's a toss-up between perfect, (apparent) scientific accuracy and sounding good. Audacity will always opt for sounding good. For good, predictable accuracy, you are advised to say away from the Nyquist sampling limit. Approachi...

@gillianlouise
If you try that method, Post back how it went.

Re: Plugins are blank (Audacity 2.4.2)
The desperation method is keep a Mac on an earlier OS. That's how I did it to retain some of my older valuable programs. I don't let it touch the internet. That's what usually causes security problems. It's possible to juggle networking so you can share work between Macs without exposure.

Re: Plugins are blank (Audacity 2.4.2)
I think it's a little more serious than that.when Audacity still runs in 32-bit.
Melda VST may be the only thing that's still 32-bit.

Re: Unable to get Audacity to recognize FFmpeg
Audiotonic is not Audacity. If you do have Audiotonic, you should uninstall it and install Audacity.
