Re: WAV File passes ACXCheck, MP3 doesn't. Wondering why?

ACX Specifications are also broadcast. Anybody with a good quality , quiet performance can do it. I did a test clip in my third bedroom just to prove it can be done. Adjust the volume and out the door. Much like your submission. However neither makes it by much. They're brittle. If the humidity goes...

Drag-select the exact same profile area you did the first time. The object is to run the whole Noise Reduction process the second time to work on any noise the first pass might have left behind. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/Documents/LF_rolloff_for_speech.xml.zip Unzip the file to LF_rolloff_f...

Re: Have 2 Audacities open at the same time?

I do that with two instances of the same show on different timelines, one above the other. It's possible to switch rapidly back and forth with the MUTE and SOLO keys.

Command-D duplicate the show and only apply corrections to one of them.

Re: Improve record quality

You should improve the original recording. It's possible to record a laptop built-in microphone by accident and that won't sound very good. It's also possible to use a computer's voice and conference processing by accident and that won't sound very good, either. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/...

Re: WAV File passes ACXCheck, MP3 doesn't. Wondering why?

That's why we recommend checking the MP3 before submission. Try encoding the MP3 with a higher quality. The original WAV is right on the edge of passing. The damage caused by MP3 compression pushed it over. ACX has minimum MP3 quality specifications and maximum file size requirements and both of tho...

Re: I need help with Noise Reduction Please! Like ASAP! Than

That's about the best I can do. You're never going to achieve a theatrically presentable monolog out of that. The volume levels are terrible and it's all noise. Effect > Equalization > Steve's custom rumble filter. I'll tell you how to get that if you decide to do this. Run Noise Reduction with 7 se...

Re: Flat line when recording from Soundflower

I start the sound clip What sound clip? From where? Describe the machine. I'm typing on a Mac Mini, OS-X 10.9.5. SoundFlower is not the most straightforward software program, but I use it and it seems to work for me. I set the playback and record preferences in Apple > System Preferences > Sound, n...

Re: Recording from a cassette.

If you mean you have two independent stereo shows one above the other, yes, that's what happens when you press Stop between recordings. The easiest way out from here is use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows) to push the bottom track sideways so its beginning happens after the top track ...

different models of voice. Many people want us to make them sound like an announcer. There is no filter or effect for that. Most of that is acting and acting is up to the performer. That and most home recordings are too noisy for serious tonal management. I am enjoying stepping through the code Did...

Re: Use Audacity Zahara documentary

Many people find Auto Duck handy for narration.

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/auto_duck.html

It can be set to automatically suppress background music in favor of your voice and then restore the music when you stop talking.
