Re: low budget mic and speakers for conference calls
There are stand-alone audio conferencing units that were reasonably successful but I don't remember enough about them. Flynwill may know. They have the advantage of auto everything and they "know" the relationship between the speakers and microphone because they're all in one package. One ...

Re: Analog microphone
And for the bottom feeders out there, the UM2 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UM2usb I shot the last two or three voice tests with mine. I haven't tried it, but the Direct Monitor button means it should be possible to overdub with this just like the certified UCA202, only with a microphone in...

Re: security for people using WINDOWS XP.
I'm aware of creating a WiFi point on a cellphone and logging into it with my laptop. I've done that. What do you mean?

Re: How to remove vocal of a movie with dual language track
Someone on the forum tried a while back. "What happens if I invert the second track and add it to the composite......?"
No luck. As above there are too many variables.

Re: security for people using WINDOWS XP.
Via a hot spot. Good question. You're still vulnerable if you download something naughty, but past that I don't know. I've put my Mac on line before as a diagnostic, but that's fully locked-down Linux system.

Re: after noise reduction
That is the sound of too much noise reduction or creating a poor profile in step one. Noise reduction is not intended to reduce noise to zero and it doesn't work on all noises. It's best on constant, background noises like computer fans and air conditioners. It will not remove other voices, music or...

Re: How to remove vocal of a movie with dual language track
Assuming the two music tracks were identical between the two dubs (not guaranteed) then we stand ready to cancel the music leaving the voices, both in the same track. That's not useful and it doesn't work upside down. If you have 5.1 surround mixes of the shows (one of the DVD options), the dialog i...

Re: Analog microphone
The legacy way to do that is a full but small sound mixer. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/LaptopMixerMicrophone.jpg The illustration shows connection to a Windows machine. The Mac version doesn't need that little USB adapter in the middle. It plugs straight into the Stereo Line-In. That will pro...

Re: Analog microphone
PreSonus AudioBox USB That's a stereo device and produces a stereo show with a single microphone on Left or Right depending on where you plug it in. Some audio adapters allow you to connect as a mono device and all's well. Some don't and you forever need to convert a recorded track from stereo to mo...

Re: Need a little help with setting up a Chain
I know you're in a hurry to get all this stuff working, but I would point out the longest posting in the history of the forum would be Ian who wanted to read audiobooks with a USB microphone in his apartment in Hollywood. 39 forum chapters and over a year. There's no guarantee we're going to push a ...
