Re: Can't go above -6 dB

am I compromising the final sound quality in any way??
No.

If you intended to do this on a regular basis, you will discover the extra post-production time is not welcome. That and sooner or later you're going to post something to a client and forget to convert it.

Re: Finding cuts in a track

Background noise. Look between the words (with analysis tools, not by looking) and sense the change in noise. Nobody, unless they were in a studio has perfect and/or matching noises. Extrapolate where the cuts may have been to make that noise change. It won't tell you where they are to bet money on....

Re: How to append multiple MP3 files

You don't have to go through quite all that fuss. Import all your tracks and Time Shift them one after the other. The boundaries light up yellow when you get them lined up. Audacity will smash them all into one track when you export. You can avoid sound damage by Exporting in a very high MP3 quality...

Re: How to append multiple MP3 files

Import-Append is a Requested Feature.

You may be able to make this slightly easier with labels. I need to mess with it.....

As we go.

Re: Can't go above -6 dB

Be clear you can continue to do what you're doing just record knowing that the clip distortion point is -6 instead of 0. Record everything at half volume.

Boost the volume to normal later in post production. I personally wouldn't do that because it makes your performances 6dB noisier forever.

Re: Can't go above -6 dB

It's a carbon-based bug. The M-Track Plus ii was never intended for mono recording and it's not a mixer, so you can't reassign sound between channels. If you "force" it into unsupported mono, the best way to prevent sound damage from overloading when using both microphones is reduce the ov...

Re: Triming audio portions

I would do it by zooming. Drag-select a portion of the show a bit longer than the segment to be deleted. Zoom into it with Control-E. Repeat if you're still zoomed out too wide. Drag-select the portion you want to delete. DEL key on the keyboard. Zoom out to the full show with Control-F. ......Note:...

Re: Help fixing my aup file?

This is a screenshot of what your AUP looks like in a text editor. Look for the tag projname=" That's what your _DATA folder looks like.

Re: Help fixing my aup file?

AUP is not an Audacity sound file. An Audacity Project has a AUP file which contains the instructions how Audacity is to construct the show from the contents of the _DATA folder of the same name. You must have both and they have to both be in the same place or folder for the show to open. Where is y...

Re: Balancing levels

Normalize has good name recognition and great press, but all it does is turn the volume up or down...once. It doesn't reassign volume values on the fly, which is what you were hoping it did. relatively equal in volume when played back. That's what it says on the tin for Chris's Compressor. http://th...
